Fingallians U14 Football
2010
Welcome back to U14 football in 2010. We are looking forward to a good season this year with a strong squad of players hungry for wins in this year’s league, and at Féile in May.
We made great progress last year. Originally assigned to Division 9, we used a very strong performance in the grading games to climb to Division 4. We more than held our own in this division, and competed strongly throughout the year. At the end of the season were squeezed out of 2nd place to finish in 3rd position, and just missed promotion to Division 3.
For 2010 we will be competing in Division 4 again and we want to build on last season’s success. We have the players and the ability; we have proved ourselves at this level, and aim to be promoted at the end of the season. With commitment from players, solid performances in matches and effective team training, this aim is very achievable.
The teams in our division are listed here and the Fixture Calendar is included below.
Team Home Ground
St Mary’s Saggart relegated from Div 3
Kilmacud Crokes B Kilmacud relegated from Div 3
Fingallians Swords remaining in Div 4
Ballyboden St Enda B Ballyboden remaining in Div 4
Na Fianna B Glasnevin remaining in Div 4
Naomh Fionnbarra Cabra remaining in Div 4
Naomh Olaf Stillorgan promoted from Div 5
Fingal Ravens Rolestown promoted from Div 5
Féile Peil 1st May 2010
The high point of the football calendar will be Féile, which takes place on May 1st this year. This competition is only open to U14 teams and is a great opportunity to showcase our talent and compete against other U14 teams. It is a knockout competition with the winning teams from the first round going through a second round. Successful teams will go forward to inter county matches later in the year.
We aim to do well at Féile, but will have to train hard and work as a team to achieve this. We will be asking for 100% from the team at matches and at training in 2010.
Féile Peil is a high profile event and each club makes great efforts to show itself at its best. Fingallians U14s have a new sponsor on board for new jerseys. Many thanks to Tom Walsh Motors for the sponsorship. We also plan to provide extra gear for competing players, but may need to fund-raise for this. This has to be finalised, more on this later.

Training
Players expected to be at training, to be on time and to take part fully. Lateness and lack of commitment wastes everyone’s time.
Winter training: October – March
Wednesdays 6.20 – 7.30pm Fingallians all-weather pitch
Summer Training March - October
Wednesdays to be arranged Balheary
We are looking at the possibility of extra training sessions to prepare for Féile. This is to be arranged.
Training generally continues in poor weather, players will be notified by webtext should training be called off.
Contacting Players
We use webtext to contact players about fixtures and send other messages. There is no charge to receive messages.
For juvenile players the message must go to the parent/guardian’s phone. The message may also be sent to the player’s phone if requested. Parents/guardians please ensure that your contact details are up to date.
A brief message will give day & date, opposition, home/away, time to meet at club. Texts will be sent when the game is confirmed.
Players who are not available for the fixture should reply to the webtext. Please include player’s name in the reply*. Otherwise there is no need to reply.
A player who does not turn out for three consecutive matches, and does not contact a manager, will be removed from the contact list.
* Webtext operates via internet; replies to a phone do not always identify the sender.

Round Date Home Away
1 30-Jan-10 St Marys S con v Fingallians w/o
We travelled to Saggart to find that St. Mary’s could only field 12 players. Short one player for the minimum number required, they had to concede the points.
The St. Mary’s manager declined the offer of a 12-a-side friendly, so we came home with no football today.
We came away with 2 points to our name, but all in all it was a disappointing start to the football season for both players and supporters who travelled for the game.
