Fingallians Glam Beauty Sponsored U12 Girls took on Ballyboden St Enda’s in the championship semi- final on Saturday last. The conditions proved difficult for both teams playing on a pitch heavy from the recent rain.

The Fingallians girls started strongly against a much bigger Ballyboden team and had a few early chances which just missed the target. However, after linking well with Michelle Farrell and Aoife Lawless, Fingallians flyer, Jamie Finn broke through the Boden defence to score a great goal. This put the Glam Girls into a lead which they never lost. Michelle Farrell was set up in front of goal and made no mistake in dispatching the ball to the back of the net. Louise Dalton popped over a fine point, before Jamie Finn broke Boden hearts again with another great goal. Ballyboden made Fins work hard for everything they got from there on and but for some great tackling from all six backs, Fins may not have held the lead of 3-1 to 1-1 at halftime.
In the second half Fingallians picked up the pace and scored some fabulous points from Rachel Brogan, Louise Dalton, Aoife Lawless, Michelle Farrell and Jamie Finn to keep Boden at bay.
Ballyboden came strongly at Fins in the last 10 minutes but great defending limited them to a late goal and point. Jamie Finn was truly on song, and put the result beyond doubt by adding a further 2 goals to her tally.
Team Mentors Anne Farrell, Colin Foley and Brian O’Neill were thrilled with the girls’ progress. "Right from goalkeeper, Ciara Foley to Shauna McEntee in the corner and all 5 subs, they fought for possession of every ball and made great use of it when the opportunity presented itself", said a delighted, Colin Foley. "The great aspect of this team's progress is their ability to score many points in every game. Great credit goes to every one of the girls for the fair but competitive way they play the game and the fun they get out of it," enthused, Anne Farrell. " It was great to have the huge support from the girls’ families and club members".
