Easter Camp 2009
FINGALLIANS AVIVA EASTER CAMP 2009
Over 170 boys and girls took part in this year’s Gaelic Football and Hurling Easter Camp at Fingallians GAA Club, which was sponsored by AVIVA. Eoin Cullen, the Hibernian AVIVA branch manager in the Plaza, Swords, was delighted to be once again involved in the sponsorship of the camp.
Fingallians new club coach, Padraig Durkan had a busy week organising all the events for the children. During the week the children learned new skills as well as developing their existing ones.
The qualified coaches made great effort to put the emphasis on fun and participation while at the same time ensuring that kids improved the own skill levels by using a carefully planned programme.
At the end of the week, the children put their skills to the test by participating in both hurling and football mini-leagues. Great fun was had by all, with the edge of competition helping to improve their skills even further.
The award for Junior Footballer of the Camp went to Gordon Rodgers and Most Improved Junior Footballer went Kate Donnelly. The most improved Junior Hurler was Leon McGuinness and the Junior Hurler of the Camp was Augustine. The Senior Footballer of the Camp award went to Jamie Finn and the Most Improved Senior Footballer was Ailise Duffy. Alex Martin picked up the most improved Senior Hurler award with the Senior Hurler of the Camp award going to Liam Scully.
During the week the kids enjoyed a Giant Easter Egg Hunt with each child getting a small egg and the following lucky kids who won special GAA Easter Eggs - Caoimhe Ni Mhurchu, Laobhaise Brady, Ryan McDermott, Michael Fitzpatrick, Rogellio Ramel, Darragh Power, Luke Fagan, Jake Ryan, Paul Barrett, Robert Martin, Ronan Shivnan
Eoin O'Shaughnessy.
It was a great week that was blessed with good weather. Every child went home very happy with their new AVIVA/Fingallians hoodies, as well of lots of new football and hurling skills. |
